BRO-tox…Why More Men are Getting Plastic Surgery!
Women aren’t the only ones seeking cosmetic procedures. Recently, the number of male patients opting to undergo both facial and body cosmetic surgery has substantially increased. The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reports that the number of cosmetic procedures for men has increased by more than 106% between 1997 and 2014.
For the past week I have been conducting an informal survey on social media, talking to 100 men on their thoughts about plastic surgery.
Here’s what I found ….
- More Men are open to getting plastic surgery: 72% of the men I surveyed would get plastic surgery.
- And they’re younger, too! I was surprised 65% of the men interested in getting work done are between the ages of 25 and 35.
- They’re looking for work above the neck… 70% of men surveyed are interested in Botox the most. They are also interested in surgical procedures such as The Brow Lift, Eyelid surgery and tightening of sagging skin.
- … and below! For the body, the most popular procedure, of course, is LIPOSUCTION.
Men in their 40s and 50s are striving to look their best at a time when they are likely competing for jobs against much younger and better looking men.
Even celebrities like Patrick Dempsey, Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Simon Cowell have openly admitted to cosmetic procedures. American Idol judge Cowell actually embraces his use of Botox and told the UK’s Glamour Magazine, “I’ve had Botox, but then again, pretty much everyone I know has. To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works, you do it once a year — who cares?” Actually Simon, its more like 3 times a year, but who’s counting.
